New Vintage Items

Have you ever wonder what vintage meant? Well it means that an item is at least 20 years old. So a lot of you might find that surprising. But the reason these items are popular is because the children who cherished these toys or fashion are now adults. They are young professionals that have enough money to buy back their childhood. They may also have children. They want to play with their old toys with their kids.

In this video I share a thrift haul, but more importantly I talk about new vintage items. Items like sport teams snapbacks are in high demand. Nike jackets and windbreakers with sports team logos can sell for a lot of money online. You can find these items being sold on Etsy, eBay, Facebook, and Instagram. Some shops have gotten so popular that they created their own eCommerce website.

You will find a lot of popular YouTube channels completely dedicated to share their swag pickups. Some favor snapbacks and others collect shoes. There is a lot of money in the older toys as well. out of print items have always made good sales. Recently LEGO brought back some of the most popular themed sets. The pirate themed sets remind me of my childhood. My very first LEGO set was a pirate one. They also brought back the castle themed sets. These truly are new vintage items because they a reboots.

Nostalgia has always brought emotion driven sales. But for older generations it was harder to communicate and sell items. Today with the internet it is so easy for someone to find the exact same toy they had as a child. Reboots are a very common thing now. Jurassic World will be coming out soon. So many millennials (including me) are pumps for it’s release.

I think it really is the turning point when we see that we are adults now. The teenagers now in school can’t relate to our childhood. We are the last generation to understand what a floppy disk is. We know what it’s like to deal with a corded phone. We also remember rewinding cassettes and how happy we were to get our first compact disk.

So don’t pass up those tacky 80s and 90s clothes. They have made a huge comeback.
