eBay Abbreviations

If you are starting out with eBay, you have a lot to learn. One of those things is the lingo that sellers use. People search for these terms when they are buying items. Back in the day eBay had a small amount of characters available for sellers to use in their titles. Now they let a lot of words to be used. But these abbreviations are stuck in it’s culture.

They are good to know whether you are selling or buying. You will see more than what I explain in the video. I just listed some of the more common phrases. Some abbreviation you will only see with certain niche items. These are buzzwords that only a small group will understand. An example comes from the My Little Pony fans. BAIT is a term they use to describe pony dolls that are too far gone to be restored. People search for this term because they want to repaint them for their own custom creations.

Here are the common eBay abbreviations you need to know. You can see them in the YouTube video above.

NWT: New with Tags, NOS: New Old Stock, OOAK: One of a Kind, VTG: Vintage

Those a re just a few you need to know. If you see something you don’t understand when you are searching through listings, then make sure to look it up on Google. You don’t want to buy something and not know everything about the item. Just like the BAIT My Little pony example above, you need to know niche specific terms. They will help you get more money for your items.

Views on listings have gone down on eBay, but you can combat this by having the correct keywords in your titles. Make sure to use abbreviations when you start to run out of real keywords. A title full of abbreviations will look really bad. I only add them at the end of my titles. That way they won’t distract from the descriptive words. Not everyone knows what these letters mean.
