Indianapolis Goodwill vs Dayton

This video is a couple years old but it still stands true. the Goodwill outlet stores in Indy are better than Dayton. There are more stores in Indy so you never see them get completely crowded. Dayton should really think about splitting the store they have. You can’t get through isles in the Dayton store. But in the Indianapolis Goodwill you had wide open spaces to roam around.

The Indy stores had less stuff in the bins to search through. I think this is good so the chance of getting cut or hurt is less. You can actually see what is in the bin and avoid it. In Dayton things are packed so high that they are almost overflowing. This means more stuff on the floor and stuff being pushed around by everyone.

Another great safety rule that the Indy stores have is that people have to wait until all of the bins have been put in a line before they are allowed to search through them. This means people won’t be getting hit with bins. It also means they won’t try to shove people out of the way to get to the fresh bin.

I stopped going to outlet stores because of the way people acted. they would throw items all of the time. I am a petite woman and I would get pushed around. I even saw a child sitting in a bin so they could go through it. Many people would take out their cell phone and take a video of the people going crazy over the broken stuff in the bins.

Like always, make sure you know how much you are making per hour. If you are sourcing low profit items but taking hours to do so, you probably are working for less than minimum wage. Think about how long it will take for you to create a listing and box the item up. That should be added to the time you are sourcing. Then get a ballpark idea of how much you will make per hour.
