Clean Nintendo Cartridges

The original Nintendo gaming console is in high demand. Most of the consoles are defective because of corrosion in the player itself. But if you know that your console works fine, it may be the game itself. you can look at the gold nubs and see if there is any dirt on them. If there are you can easily clean Nintendo cartridges so don’t worry!

You will need some supplies. An eraser works wonders and has no chemicals. You can also use rubbing alcohol and a q tip. Be careful with the alcohol because it can dry out the mother board. If the case itself has permanent marker on it, you can clean this off with a magic eraser. Magic erasers can be harsh so rub lightly at first.

Now if you have dirt or sticky stuff in the crevasses you can buy a security screwdriver bit that will allow you to open the game cartridge up. You want to be careful not to hurt the electronic components inside. It’s worth the investment if you are repairing many vintage games to get this security bit. I bought mine off of eBay.

Clean Nintendo cartridges will rake in more money that dirty ones. So if you have found an expensive game you want to do everything you can to make it look presentable. Don’t blow on the game because the saliva from your mouth will just feed the corrosion. I know it’s a common thing but it really hurts the game.

What are some ways you clean your vintage NES games? Sometimes it’s worth the risk to buy a dirty game at the thrift store. I’ve saved games from the landfill this way. I also made money off of them. It’s crazy how many people skip money making opportunities because they involve a little bit of elbow grease to clean them. Now Gamestop is thinking about buying vintage games. So even you don’t want to sell online, you can cash in on your old games.
