Fiberglass Kimball Bullet Planters

Mid century modern furniture is the new collector’s fantasy. much of this can be tied to the success of the TV series Mad Men. There are many names to know from this era. one of which is Kimball Bullet Planters. I have an example of one I show in this video. These are made with fiberglass. What makes them unusual is the shape of them. They are very deep and rest on a stand.

The price on these will depend on the condition. It can be hard to clean fiber glass. You don’t want to add stains to the planter by trying to clean it with harsh chemicals. It’s best to just sell them as is and let the buyer decide how to restore them. you can even sell the stands by themselves. So if it’s a broken planter you can still sell part of it.

There are different sizes so make sure to put measurements on your Etsy or eBay listing. You  might want to put a ruler next to it so people can see how big they really are. Shipping these things will be the hardest part because you don’t want it to break on the way there. I would recommend double boxing these things and wrapping the planter and stand separately. You could always go to the UPS store and have them pack it for you. Put insurance on it if it sells for more than the free priority mail insurance.

Antiques have gone out of style to be replaced by mid century collectibles. Keep an eye for these when you go to estate sales. Most people don’t know how much these are worth. they will probably be dirty and might not even be for sale. It’s always a good idea to ask if something is for sale. The worst that can happen is they say no. I highly doubt they will be offended if you ask about outdoor planters.
